Design of an Image Grabber for PACS


Abstract
Picture Archiving and Communications Systems (PACS) attempts to realize a filmless radiology department by storing the output of medical image systems in a digital form for computer memory devices. The stored digital data can be communicated through the network of computers and an operator can call any image and text file anywhere in the computer network for interactive display. PACS supply the communication storage and user-interface. In this paper, we designed an image grabber for PACS which digitizes the output of medical image systems. We used a KA2605 to seperate the vertical and horizontal synchronization pusle and a KSV310 for A/D and D/A conversion. Two 32K byte 62256 SRAM are used to store a 256 ¡¿ 256 image which has 256 gray levels for each pixel.
